What is ShipStation?
ShipStation is a shipping and fulfilment platform used to purchase shipping labels and manage order dispatch. Conjura connects to ShipStation to extract shipping costs, which are used to calculate Shipping Costs in our reporting.
ShipStation data is not used for revenue, product, or customer metrics.
What ShipStation data does Conjura use?
Conjura uses the Shipments data from ShipStation, including: shipment identifiers, order references, shipment dates and order-level shipping costs.
Shipping Costs & Allocation
How does Conjura calculate Shipping COGS from ShipStation?
A single order in ShipStation can have multiple shipment records - for example, if it's split across parcels or shipped in stages. Conjura combines all shipment costs for the same order into one total, matches it to the order in your ERP or eCommerce platform, and then splits it across the products in that order.
This means each order has one accurate shipping cost, with no double-counting.
How is shipping cost split across products?
The total shipping cost for an order is divided across its line items based on weight or quantity, so each product gets a proportional share. The line-item costs always add up to the exact order total.
What if ShipStation shipping cost is missing?
Conjura works through the following sources in order, using the first one available:
Custom import - shipping costs you've provided via a direct import
ShipStation cost, split by weight - allocated based on each item's share of total shipping weight
ShipStation cost, split evenly - used when item weights aren't available
ERP-provided cost - shipping cost supplied by your ERP at line-item level
Zero - if no source is available, defaults to zero so reporting isn't interrupted
This means the most reliable source is always used first, and shipping costs are never double-counted.
Common Data Questions
What date does Conjura use for ShipStation costs?
Conjura ties the shipping cost back to the original order date, not the shipment date.
Are voided shipments included?
Voided shipments are captured, but are excluded from the Shipping Costs value.
Can I see shipping costs per product?
Yes. Shipping costs are allocated down to individual line items and appear as Shipping Costs in Conjura's dashboards.
What currency are these ShipStation costs in?
Costs are assumed to be in the currency your organisation selected during sign-up.
